Gratitude Stories

When it comes to healthcare, trust is vital for the relationship between patients and doctors. We rely on medical professionals to give us accurate diagnoses and guide us toward healing and wellness. But what happens when that trust is broken, and a misdiagnosis causes confusion and worry? This is what happened to Mehul, who found comfort in the compassionate care of another doctor who provided a second opinion. This story highlights the importance of seeking second opinions and their positive impact on our lives.

Here's the tale as narrated by Mehul's parents.

My son Mehul has been suffering from migraines since the age of 13. He is 25 now. I had taken him to numerous doctors in all these years. We consulted general physicians, pediatricians, and even neurophysicians for his headaches. But none of the doctors could relieve him of his pain. Four years back he had a terrible attack of headache that continued for 2 days. At the end of the second day when nothing worked we visited Pediatrician Dr. Kewal Gupta of Gupta Child Clinic, Bapu Nagar, Jaipur who used to be our family doctor. The first thing he did was check his BP.

He checked it thrice. Looking at his face I understood that it was high. He consulted his son for medicine and prescribed a medicine for immediate relief but suggested that we see his son, Dr. Yadvendra Gupta, a general physician, the next morning.

Dr. Yadvendra, then in SMS Hospital, listened to the migraine history patiently and checked his BP again. He then prescribed BP medicine to Mehul who was only 21 then. We were surprised by the medication advice but decided to trust him. And Bingo!! Mehul has never suffered from migraines after that.

Yes, his grandparents were very upset to start BP medicine at such an early age because of all sorts of side effects. However, Dr. Yadvendra and Dr. Gupta educated us on the harmful effects Mehul could have without the medicine.

So actually Mehul was always suffering from high blood pressure and it wasn’t a migraine. Sometimes lack of the right diagnosis prolongs and aggravates a problem and makes it chronic.

So I’m thankful to Dr. Yadvendra Gupta of SRK Hospital for successfully curing Mehul for his long-time migraine problem.
