Gratitude Stories

This post continues the story from the last one, in which my mother needed a pacemaker implanted. That was in February 2013, a long time ago.

The battery life of pacemakers is ten years. In 2023, the pacemaker battery of my mother's was scheduled for replacement. When the pacemaker is connected to the device for maintenance, it signals.

On March 15, 2023, we saw Dr. Jitendra Makkar at the EHCC Hospital in Jaipur for a routine examination. The machine showed that the battery had gone into reserve just the day before.

We had to replace the battery and do surgery. The procedure was scheduled for March 21, 2023. But on March 20, 2023, the doctor went on strike against the Rajasthan Right To Health Bill, and as Dr. Makkar is a senior member of the medical community, he was unable to perform the planned procedure. However, he reassured us that my mother wouldn't be in danger because of the battery's length.

My mother became anxious after she saw the news on TV about the medical strike and people inquiring about her procedure. To find out if mummy was safe or if Dr. Vijay Pathak could do the surgery at SMS Hospital, we went to see him. He gave us assurances that all was well with the reports, that Dr. Makkar is a responsible physician, and that if there was an emergency, he would personally answer the phone and perform the surgery because he is aware of his patient's health.

Thus, we waited patiently for the strike to end while staying in close communication with Dr. Makkar's assistant to emphasize the pressing need for surgery for our patient. On April 4, 2023, the strike finally came to an end. We got a call the following day asking to be admitted to EHCC. The surgery took place on April 5, 2023. Due to the strike, the hospital has the bare minimum of employees. However, the hospital treated us well. There were no issues, and the personnel was really helpful and kind.

After returning home satisfied and happy, my mother is living an active life.

Thanks to Dr. Jitendra Makkar for being an angel in our lives and taking care of my mom so well.
